a new FLAILSNAILS vacation destination

So g+ is shutting down, has been for a while. Mostly the world seems to feel that the social network failed the entire length of its offering, however for a few fecund years some great game content and rule-hacking were shared in the RPG niches therein, and many quality materials were published by the connections made.
And not only content--actual games thrived too, and for a time a wacky, reality-warped(& warping) procession of FLAILSNAILS sessions occurred. Mostly, I missed out on those.

And yet! In the shadow of the rotting giant some other people threw some seeds, and there are roots growing out through various discords (& maybe other places too?), and some games have amalgamated already. In hopes of joining in on, and adding generally bad ideas to, this revitalized round of FLAILSNAILS I have proudly established

the Hotel Maybe
in order
that the adventuresome characters whom participate, those listless wanderers between confounding worlds thrown hither and yon by the tides of chance and random encounters and lack of context, might at long last have a respite from their travails. Here, surrounded by the opulence and comfort that their  accrued reputations and many currencies and recovered relics can buy them, they may finally rest their weary minds, safe and secure within the welcoming walls of the Hotel Maybe.

....or at least that's something like the ad-copy would look like. The Hotel is of course meant to be an adventure site, replete with random encounters, monsters-of-the-week, secret passageways, vying factions, all made complete with the many amenities and networking opportunities of a major metropolitan airport somewhere in the late 20th century. But nicer, and less noisy, with more of an emphasis on enjoying yourself rather than getting somewhere.

Dead Planet made me do it.
This post here is what tipped the scales.
I mean, look at that abandoned ship die-drop method!
So easy.
So efficient.
So scale-able.
It pulls together for me a lot of the best parts of the random location generation from both Vornheim and A Red &PL,  likewise some of the cave generation from Veins of the Earth, Scenic Dunnsmouth in its entirety, & in particular the Blasphemous Roster's procedural dungeon-location creation section.
Immediately I started scheming ways to assemble a dungeon or labyrinth version.

....but then I remembered FLAILSNAILS, and I started to think differently

About worlds I'd dreamed up.
About unusual, fun places I'd like to explore with some strangers.
About how I could arrange a setting so that the constant arrive-stay-leave rhythm of PCs in the fiction was not just ignored or waved off, and was rather integrated into the structure of the fiction already.
I thought about communities in vague, amorphous ways.
Then, this post:

I thought about cruise liners (been done before).
I thought about the moons of a failed star.
I briefly considered the vast, ever-shifting Goblin Warrens.

Then I remembered hotels, and I was satisfied
Now work is underway.
Space has been leased between moments.
Various rooms are being potentially placed there, and readied for your arrival.

Welcome to
the Hotel Maybe.
Please enjoy your stay.

  1. Unwashed public restrooms!!! That IS frightening.

  2. Yeah, the bar toilets can be questionable.
However, if you rent a room you get a *pristine* potty!
